AirMail manila sleeve for MacBook Air
January 18th, 2008 | Published in Apple
It’s already begun: accessories for Apple’s newly announced MacBook Air. Throwing the first punch, the guys and gals of manilamac.com have rolled out a notebook sleeve just days after the Keynote. The sleeve is a unique twist on the Keynote itself when Steve Jobs unveiled the Air from an ordinary manila envelope to show the world’s thinnest notebook. AirMail is no ordinary manila envelope, however. The sleeve is handmade out of “durable upholstery-grade vinyl, and lined with fuzzy, soft fleece.” It will protect your MacBook Air from everyday travel, from smudges, dirt, and light bumps but it is not designed to protect against heavy banging and dropping (in which case, you should not even buy a MacBook Air.) Following the product for which it is designed, AirMail is innovative and original.

The Inventors:
AirMail was conceived and made by Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans, two self-claimed Apple geeks. See their web site for more information.
The Design:
The sleeve is modeled after a standard interoffice manila envelope. Since the MacBook Air is a revolutionary computer (being the world’s thinnest notebook), the creators wanted to make a cool case to show off the new notebooks in style (a la the new MacBook Air commercial.)
Availability:
As of now, you can pre-order the AirMail MacBook Air Sleeve now and it will arrive via USPS Priority Mail by the time MacBook Air ships in two weeks.
