Apple’s Software Update is perfect for keeping your Mac up-to-date with new releases of Mac OS X, security fixes, and updates to Apple-developed apps like iTunes and Quicktime, but it lacks support for other applications. Maik Szmatulewicz, Thomas Winkler, and Jonas Witt have developed a Universal app to keep track of all your apps and widgets (in your user’s /Applications folder or another folder you choose to include).
